Stampin' Floral Statements on Glossy Card

Thanks for stopping by, it's Jay here. Do you go back to projects that you weren't happy with before? Where do you store them? I hardly throw anything away; strips of card stock, punched/die cut shapes, stamped images, etc. much to Barry's annoyance as I tend to leave them aside and forget about. We now have a tub each of unfinished projects and mine is already half full!

The card I am sharing today was actually an experiment for the hop with Kylie and the Crazy Crafters. It didn't turn out the way I hoped so I left it aside and just recently finished. I used the Marbled Background first, daubing different colours of ink but ended up so light that it is hard to see on the flowers. I also used Clear Wink of Stella which didn't make much impact as the rest of the card are glossy so will omit next time. What I was pleasantly surprised about was how the Glossy Card withstood a lot of changes that went on in this project!

Inks: Black Archival, Pool Party, Marina Mist & Island Indigo

For next time, I will keep to the following steps:
Stamp Marbled Background on Glossy Card
Stamp 'Thanks' in Archival Black
Use Aqua Painters to spread Pool Party from the middle of the card outwards and change into Marina Mist for an ombre effect
Use Island Indigo Stampin' Markers to trace around the right side of the image to add shadow
Sponge the edges of the card with Island Indigo ink
Ensure the project is dry then use Embossing Buddy to cover the whole images
Stamp the ink splatter from Awesomely Artistic in Versamark randomly
Apply Gold Embossing Powder and use Heat Tool

Textured Card using Sunshine Wishes #stampinup

Thanks for stopping by. Today I am playing along the Global Design Project #GDP088  and we are CASING Shawn De Oliveira

   

Shawn does CAS designs so well, which I really admire as I find it a challenge, I just want to use everything! I guess its balancing the different elements and knowing when to stop. I added the 2nd image from Shawn as the embossing paste really inspired me for my challenge entry below:

Card base 10.5cm x 14.8cm

Island Indigo Layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm

I used Versamark on the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Press down with my hands only and embossed using Gold  Stampin' Emboss Powder

Applied the embossing paste, let dry before sponging Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry with Sponge Daubers

Stacked 'congrats' die cut from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies and apply Fine Tip Glue to get the smooth & shiny texture

Use Tear & Tape to help shape and hold the Linen Thread

Die cut the butterfly doodle in white and smokey slate, stacked to create a flower

Add a tiny Gold Glimmer Paper dot in the centre, I used the 1/8" Circle Punch

This card is overloaded with different textures and techniques but I'm really pleased with the end result. An embossing paste will be available from Stampin' Up! from June 1st but for this card I made my own and what a mess it was. I did too much, I was unsure of the consistency and couldn't really save for future use so I will be buying the Stampin' Up! embossing paste on our next order.

2 Modern Cards with Father Christmas Set by Stampin' Up!

The last few days have been really cold here so I've been crafting on my days off next to the radiator. Hope you're keeping warm too.

I have been wanting to create a modern card with the Father Christmas set by Stampin' Up!® and came up with this.

Marbled Balloons for CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge

Hi All

I want to share a card I recently made for my sister's boyfriend using a marbled card from last month's shaving foam technique class.

The inspiration came from CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #190 combined with the colouring technique I used for CC&S#188

 

I used the outline balloon stamps from the Balloon Celebration set to create a couple of masks before stamping on the marbled card. I created more depth by using the Aqua Painters to add shadows before colouring the background with Island Indigo marker and drawing the strings using white pigment pen. I then heat embossed the stars randomly in gold as well as adding shimmer on the balloons with a glitter brush pen.

I still have a few of these marbled cards and will share more makes once I think of other ways of using them.

CAS Colours & Sketches #188

Hi All

Here is my card for my last challenge as Guest Designer at CAS Colours & Sketches.

I worked on a print from our recent Shaving Foam technique class with the Falling Flowers set.

Blackened the background with Stampin' Marker before heat embossing in gold. Layered on kraft card using the Layering Ovals.

For the sketch I added glitter with double sided tape and the sentiment is from the Wetlands set.
