Emboss Resist Technique with Birthday Blossoms

Hi Everyone

Thank you for stopping by, it's Jay here. I am playing along to these couple of challenges which inspired the card I am sharing with you today

Colour INKspiration #CI14 & #TGIFC118 Emboss Resist

  

Whisper White card base 10.5cm x 29.6cm

Night of Navy top strip 10.5cm x 1.5cm

Night of Navy bottom scallop 10.5cm x 2cm

Whisper White layer 10.5cm x 8.5cm

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper 7cm x 7cm

For the base card, stamp the flower cluster randomly in Soft Sky

Die cut Wood Textures DSP with Circle Stitched Framelit

Stamp the sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink then the flower clusters in Smoky Slate

Use Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Marker to colour the flower centres, Whisper White Craft Stampin' Ink Refill to colour the flowers with Aqua Painters then colour the background with Night of Navy using the ink pad tray

Put aside to dry before adhering on the black scalloped circle die cut from Layering Circles Framelits Dies

For the layer, I used Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder with Versamark then heat embossed

Use the same Stampin' Marker as before but this time just drag a bit of colour to the petals using Aqua Painters

Use the sentiment circle as a guide to check where to stamp the leaves in Smoky Slate before colouring the background in Night of Navy with Aqua Painters

Add the gold ribbon, vellum, strip of Soft Sky card stock and gold metallic thread before adhering the Night of Navy strips for the top and bottom (the scallop bottom was achieved using a die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies)

To finish off, adhere layer on the base card and then the sentiment circle using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

Colouring Pretty Kitty with Aqua Painters by Stampin' Up!

Hi Everyone

Thanks for stopping by, it's Jay here. I am sharing this cute card I created using a stamp from Pretty Kitty set. Can you believe we only got this set recently?!

Here are the inspirations from Global Design Project #GDP097 and Stamp, Ink, Paper #SIP109 which I am entering my card to:

  

Whisper White base card 10.5cm x 14.8cm

Black card mat 7cm x 7cm

I used the Wild Wasabi ink pad tray and dilute the colour with water to get the lighter shade of green for the background. I then used Stampin' Marker for the leaves to get a darker shade.

For the base card, I loaded the tip of the Aqua Painter with water and Wild Wasabi ink. I then tap it against my index finger to create the random splatter effect.

The flourish in Berry Burst was stamped twice without re inking so the 2nd image is lighter. This technique is called 2nd Generation or Stamping Off

To finish off, I shaped the Copper Trim into leaves with the help of mini glue dots! I also took the backing off the Glitter Enamel Dots to make it clear and show the circle stamped image.

Stampin' Floral Statements on Glossy Card

Thanks for stopping by, it's Jay here. Do you go back to projects that you weren't happy with before? Where do you store them? I hardly throw anything away; strips of card stock, punched/die cut shapes, stamped images, etc. much to Barry's annoyance as I tend to leave them aside and forget about. We now have a tub each of unfinished projects and mine is already half full!

The card I am sharing today was actually an experiment for the hop with Kylie and the Crazy Crafters. It didn't turn out the way I hoped so I left it aside and just recently finished. I used the Marbled Background first, daubing different colours of ink but ended up so light that it is hard to see on the flowers. I also used Clear Wink of Stella which didn't make much impact as the rest of the card are glossy so will omit next time. What I was pleasantly surprised about was how the Glossy Card withstood a lot of changes that went on in this project!

Glossy Card 9.5cm x 13.8cm
Inks: Black Archival, Pool Party, Marina Mist & Island Indigo

For next time, I will keep to the following steps:
Stamp Marbled Background on Glossy Card
Stamp 'Thanks' in Archival Black
Use Aqua Painters to spread Pool Party from the middle of the card outwards and change into Marina Mist for an ombre effect
Use Island Indigo Stampin' Markers to trace around the right side of the image to add shadow
Sponge the edges of the card with Island Indigo ink
Ensure the project is dry then use Embossing Buddy to cover the whole images
Stamp the ink splatter from Awesomely Artistic in Versamark randomly
Apply Gold Embossing Powder and use Heat Tool
