Paper Craft Crew Inspiration Challenge #PCC273 ~ Holidays!

Welcome to Mitosu Crafts. It's Jay here with the Paper Craft Crew challenge #PCC273. This Holidays themed challenge is running for 2 weeks, so if life is a bit hectic at the moment pre-Christmas, there's always next week to craft and join in the challenge

For my project this week, I took a few elements from the inspiration photo and I created this poinsettia card using the leaf dies from Orchid Builder Framelits

A6 cardbase

Basic Gray mat 14.3cm x 10cm

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper layer 13.8cm x 9.5cm

Basic Gray strip 13.8cm x 1cm

I stamped the twigs on Wood Textures DSP with Early Espresso ink, some in 2nd Generation (stamping off technique)

I wrapped Gold 1/8" Ribbon along the Basic Gray strip then along a stick to get the curls by using the Heat Tool

I used the Leaf Punch to get 2 Tranquil Tide and 3 Vellum leaves

To create the poinsettia, I stamped the leaves from the coordinating photopolymer stamp set, Climbing Orchid, with Cherry Cobbler ink on Real Red cardstock then die cut

I shaped each leaf using the side of the Paper Snips then used the 1" Circle Punch for the base

I applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the circle base then arranged the leaves to look like a poinsettia. I worked with the bigger leaves first, leaving a bit of space for the smaller ones in the middle

For a bit of sparkle, I used Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on the poinsettia and vellum leaves then added the large Gold Faceted Gem

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments in Tranquil Tide ink. Punched with the Classic Label then snipped the ends before adhering with Mini Stamping Dimensionals

Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Blog Highlights October 2017

We recently received the new Stampin' Blends alcohol markers which I have playing with a lot in the last week. These alcohol markers comes in 12 Stampin' Up! colours, each with a Light and Dark marker. There are 2 additional colours; Ivory and Bronze for skin tones and a Colour Lifter to add texture, highlights or clean up edges. The Stampin' Blends will be available to purchase from November 1st 2017

TIP: put a scrap paper or tissue underneath of your work and try not to colour right up to the lines to lessen colour bleeding

Barry made a box a few months back that looked like a house to me so I knew I had to use it for my project along with the Climbing Orchid Photopolymer Stamp Set and Orchid Builder Framelits Dies Bundle

The box measures 3" x 5 1/2" x 3" in Emerald Envy Cardstock

Covered in Wood Textures Designer Series Papers which were stamped randomly with twigs in Soft Suede

One set of orchids were stamped in Emerald Envy ink on Whisper White Cardstock and coloured with Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Blends

Another set of orchids were stamped in Tuxedo Black and coloured with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry Blends

Die cut the stamped images with the matching Orchid Builder Framelits Dies and decorate the box
Punch 4 holes on the roof using 1/8" Circle Punch and keep closed with the Copper Trim

I stamped the sentiment using Brushwork Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp Set in Soft Suede on Whisper White

To finish off, I used the Cat Punch on shrink plastic and then coloured in Bermuda Bay Blends

Top 10 Winners Blog Hop for Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights

Welcome to the Top 10 Winners Blog Hop for Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Highlights

 You are currently at Mitosu Crafts with me Jay Soriano from the UK and I am so thankful to everyone that voted last month for my Climbing Orchid Wreath which enabled me to join the hop today

The theme is Teacher's Gifts and I wanted to create something that welcomed the new school year as kids go back to school now. I took inspiration from my highlight project using the Climbing Orchid Stamp Set and Orchid Builder Thinlits Bundle. Barry is making boxes like crazy lately and he recently made a Kirigami Box which I thought was perfect for my project!

I found the original pin that Barry used from Sharon Cheng and I used the same measurements but altering the height of the middle pot for easy closing. The hole on the top was made using the 1" Circle Punch and the Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon keeps the box closed

Like my original decor, I rolled copy papers for the stems then coloured with Garden Green Ink Refill, this time the Isopropyl Alcohol was in an Aqua Painter

I added wire inside for extra support and easy positioning

This Orchid in a Kirigami Box opens up and could be used as a desk tidy as well. Wouldn't this look lovely on a teacher's desk to welcome them every morning?!

The double bow ribbon is held by glue dots but a velcro dot would even be better for easy repositioning to decorate the opened box
