Stampin' with Butterfly Gala for Paper Craft Crew Challenges #PCC333

Hello, it's Jay here and I am stampin' with Butterfly Gala for the Paper Craft Crew challenge #PCC333

Welcome to Mitosu Crafts and thanks for stopping by. I am sharing my card idea for our 2 WEEK card sketch challenge. For this project I was playing around with the idea of using a negative die cut space for the main card topper. And this is what I came up with...

Card Measurements

Cardbase: 21cm x 14cm, folded in half at 10.5cm

Coastal Cabana Mat: 10cm x 13.5cm

Whisper White Layer: 9.5cm x 13cm

Very Vanilla Strip: 8cm x 1.8cm

Grapefruit Grove Strip: 8cm x 0.8cm

OR

Cardbase: 8 1/4" x 5 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/8"

Coastal Cabana Mat: 3 15/16" x 5 5/16"

Whisper White Layer: 3 3/4" x 5 1/8"

Very Vanilla Strip: 3 3/16 x 11/16"

Grapefruit Grove Strip: 3 3/16" x 5/16"

I started with the Coastal Cabana mat which I embossed with the Country Floral DTIEF, sticking on the cardbase with Multipurpose Liquid glue after.

Then I adhered the strips of Very Vanilla and Grapefruit Grove cardstock on the Whisper White layer. I ran this layer through the Big Shot using one of the square Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the frame. This allows us to see more of the beautiful Country Floral design which I then highlighted the dots with the Chalk Marker

The butterflies were stamped in Memento Black and coloured with Stampin' Blends. The colours I used were Mango Melody Combo and Light Pumpkin Pie. Punched with the co-ordinating Butterfly Duet punch so I can follow the card sketch

To finish my card, I used Basic Pearls and Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequin

I left this card without a sentiment as I feel that it can be used for any occasion and can easily be altered with what we need. So it is currently being displayed at our cardmaking class and demonstrations in Basingstoke

Petals & More Alternative Floating Frame Technique (No Press & Seal)

Welcome to Mitosu Crafts and thanks for stopping by. It's Jay here and today I have an alternative card idea to the Floating Frame Technique to share with you using Petals & More Thinlits Dies and the coordinating stamp set, Petal Palette.

 The Floating Frame Technique has been very popular recently and I first saw this technique used by Artisan Jackie Aitken on her Instagram feed a couple of months ago. Jackie used a household product called Press & Seal which we do not have. A couple of weeks ago, I had an idea of using a different product which we did have. I wasn't sure whether it would work so instead of doing a whole frame, I only did the topper. Here is the result of my Floating Topper...

The household product I used, pet owners will have ;) Can you guess what I used for this alternative Floating Frame card?

Before I tell you here are some more details to my card

Cardbase 14.5cm x 21cm, folded in half at 10.5cm

OR

Cardbase: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"

I stamped the flowers from Petal Palette stamp set in the colours mentioned above with some in 2nd Generation ink then die cut with the co-ordinating dies from Petals & More Thinlits set

I then took a square die from Stitched Shapes Framelits set to determine how big the area I need to cover

The product I used to lay the flowers onto was none other than a lint roller refill! I imagine it's more sticky than the Press & Seal. So if you do use it for your Floating Frame card, take some stickiness off by patting on your clothes first, easy right?!

Once happy with the layout, I ran the sticky sheet through the Big Shot (the pressure from doing so does adhere the die cuts on the sticky sheet even more)

Add Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the flower die cuts to pop them up and create the illusion that they are floating

I added the trellis which was die cut from Petals & More. This was shortened before adhering

The sentiment from Petal Palette was stamped in Memento and die cut. This Petals & More label die was shortened by running through the Big Shot twice
