Hi Everyone
Thank you for joining us today and welcome to the Creating Kindness Design Team's July blog hop. We are a group of international demonstrators hoping to inspire you with our projects; to spread kindness through card making and papercrafts. A great way to do this is to #makeacardsendacard with a little gift to let someone know you are thinking of them. We have created projects with the theme of 3D / Gift Giving and are very lucky to be joined by a special guest designer, Sue Plote!
You may have arrived from Satomi Wellard in Japan or started here with me Jay Soriano at Mitosu Crafts' blog in the UK. You will find a list at the end of this post to check your progress along our blog hop or simply click the 'Visit Next Blog' image to be taken to Jessie Holton's post from Australia.
For my projects, I created a small gift box and a matching card which could be given on a special occasion or to lift someone's day.
The sentiments from the Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies, which comes as a Bundle, are great for generic all occasion projects. I also used the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper which works great against the Basic Gray card stock.
The box holds a Lush pot of Face and Body Scrub product. Lush specialises on fresh handmade cosmetics which I myself often use and give as gifts (my favourite are their Bubble Bars especially The Comforter). The team at our local store in Basingstoke are always welcoming and happy to help. You will definitely find something for anyone you need a gift for!
The box measures 3" x 2 1/8" x 3
Lid: Foil Frenzy DSP 5 15/16"
~Score @ 3/4" & 1 1/2" on all sides
Bottom: Basic Gray card stock 4 1/16" x 6 1/4" (x2)
~ Score @ 1/2" & 2 5/8" ~ Turn 90˚ ~ Score @ 2 7/8" & 5 3/4"

For the card I used the same card stock and DSP to match the gift box with a bit of Gold Ribbon, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Glitter Enamel Dots. I also did a bit of watercolouring with the Aqua Painters to mirror the look of the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon for the centre of the medallion then heat emboss the sentiment with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. I really like how the Vellum softens the foiling on the DSP and ties the whole design together.

Love your colour combo! What a cool set!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessie
DeleteLove your gift box and colour combo Jay, my daughter loves the Lush line of products as well, I'll have to recreate one of your gift boxes next time I give her some!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marcy
DeleteLove your matching card and box. It makes the gift so specially and personalized. Don't we all love Foil Frenzy DSP for boxmaking?!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Satomi, yes we do! The weight is great for box making and the foil designs is a lovely contrast against the kraft paper :)
DeleteLovely box but using the given measurements my box ended up being the same size as the lid so when I went to close it the base buckled. The base is usually slightly smaller than the lid so it goes on smoothly. I rechecked the measurements and I had copied them correctly but I had a disappointing result. Just thought you'd like to know.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara for watching and trying it out. With the measurements above the base should be 2 7/8" square and the lid is 2 15/16". The lid is only 1/16" bigger so it's a snug fit. Did you use the same cardstock as I have, as different cards might have different thickness.
DeletePerfect! I will have to try this out very soon. Great instructions too!
ReplyDeleteLove this card and your packaging Jay! Amazing as always! 💖
